LAHORE: Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122) Secretary Dr. Rizwan Naseer reviewed the emergency operational performance of all districts of Punjab for the month of February 2026.

Dr. Rizwan Naseer expressed serious concern over the alarming 410 deaths in 37,938 road traffic crashes, emphasising that motorcycles involved in 69 per cent of the acci-dents during the last month.

He urged bike riders to drive on left side of the road at a speed less than 50 km/hr, as every increase of 1km/hr raises the risk of a fatal accident by 4 to 5 per cent.

He said the Emergency Services Department rescued 189,869 victims while responding to 187,761 emergencies across Punjab in February. He expressed serious concern over 37,938 road traffic crashes resulting 19,773 serious injuries and 410 deaths during last month.A press release issued here on Monday said that Dr Rizwan was presiding over the monthly operational performance review meeting on Monday, which was attended by the directors Emergency Services, heads of the Wings, Provincial Monitoring Officer while district emergency officers (DEOs) attended via video linlc.

All DEOs shared the operational performance of their respective districts while discussing major emergencies, challenges, case studies, les-sons learnt and initiatives of their districts.

It was briefed in the meeting that Rescue 1122 responded 187,761 emergencies during last month which includes 125,152 medical emergencies, 37,938 road traffic crashes, 6,380 falls/slip, 4,927 delivery cases, 3,320 crime incidents, 2,085 fire incidents, 1,968 occupation injuries, 1,121 animal rescue, 563 electric shoclc, 451 burn cases, 43 drowning incidents, 34 structural collapses and 3,779 miscellaneous operations in Punjab.The datafurther revealed that 410 people died in 37,938 road traffic crashes (RTCs) in Punjab during the last month. Out of these traffic crashes, the majority of traffic accidents 6,961 occurred in Lahore in which 40 people died.

Similarly, 2,690 RTCs in Faisalabad, 2,486 RTCs in Multan, 2,044 in Gujranwala, 1,433 in Sheilchupura and 1,186 in R awalpindi while the remaining 21,138 road traffic crashes took place in other districts of Punjab.
