TAXILA: The city police officer (CPO), Israr Ahmed Abbasi, has reprimanded the Taxila police for rising crimes especially abduction for ransom cases in their area and urged them to serve people in a befitting manner.

He issued the directives during his visit to the city where he held a marathon meeting with the public representatives, traders` community and religious circles to know their grievances.

The CPO asked the local police chief, SHOs and chowki inchrages to utilise their energies to resolve the heinous crimes especially abduction for ransom and robberies in which cash worth millions of rupees were looted from traders.

He ordered beefing up security at all entry and exit points of the city.

He instructed them to mend their ways of traditional policing otherwise be ready to face the music.

Interestingly, during the meeting the religious leaders told the CPO that they would not follow the newly introduced Amplifier Act.

They termed it contrary to the Islamic rules and declared that the registration of cases and their imprisonment would not dent their resolve to offer religious obligation.
