CM inaugurates model cattle market

SHEIKHUPURA: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly-constructed model cattle market established at a cost of Rs390 million in the city on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, mostly of farmers and government officials, the chief minister said the new cattle market was equipped with all the necessary facilities like cattle sheds, boarding and lodging for customers, fodder shops.

He said similar model cattle markets would be constructed in other districts of the province.

The government was trying to raise living standard of farmers` community because it was the backbone of economy, he said, adding the government had recently raised the wheat price for benefits of farmers.

He said wheat production would be satisfactory this year due to the better facilities being provided to the farmers. The cost of paddy, a major crop of Sheikhupura district, would also be raised this year, he added.

The CM`s visit was brief while entry of the common man to the venue was impossible due to security measures.

BOY SHOT DEAD: An 18-year-old boy was shot dead by a landlord for cutting grass from his field on Thursday.

Irfan, a resident ofvillage Pakhyala, used to earn livelihood by selling grass. He was cutting grass from a field, owned by Ansar. Meanwhile, Ansar reached there along his three companions. After an exchange of harsh words, Ansar opened fire on Irfan, killing him on the spot.

The deceased was an orphan.

Narang police are looking into the matter.
