WSSP disposes of 1,000 tonnes of waste in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) successfully completed Eidul Fitr operations with more than 2,500 workers having performed their duties in different areas of the provincial metropolis.

During its three-day operation, the WSSP employees disposed of approximately 1,000 tonnes of waste, clearing all the collection points.According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, the operation was supervised by chief executive officer Yasir Ali Khan, general manager Mohammad Ijaz, zonal managers, and management staff.

Officers from the district administration also visited the operational sites to assess the cleanliness situation.

It was stated that keeping in view the workers` services thepeople belonging to different sections of the society, including elected representatives, appreciated the WSSP staff for ensuring cleanliness during Eid.

It was stated that a day before Eidul Fitr, a city-wide clean-up operation was conducted, during which all areas and collection points were cleared, and lime was applied.

On Eid day, early in the morning, cleaning was carried outaround mosques and residential areas.

Similarly, water supply staff also remained alert to ensure continuous water supply.

A total of 238 small and large vehicles were used to collect and transport waste from streets to collection points, then to transfer stations, and finally to the dumping site.

Special teams monitored the operation across all five zones.The local body representatives commended the Eid cleaning operation, stating that timely cleanliness was ensured, and the staff`s hard work made Eid enjoyable for citizens.

Meanwhile, CEO Yasir Ali appreciated the efforts of the staff and management officials, emphasising that teamwork played a crucial role in keeping the city clean. Bureau Report
