MUZAFFARGARH: A police constable and a suspect were injured in a raid and an alleged encounter, respectively, with drug peddlers in Qasba Gujrat.

As per a spokesman, a Qasba Gujrat police team conducted araid to arrest a drug dealer on a tip-off.

During the raid, he said, Constable Mustafa was injured when the suspect openedñre andned way with his accomplices.

The police cordoned off the area and chased the suspects, intercepting them after some time,he added.

Both sides exchanged fire, after which the suspects fled away and the police found a suspect, identified as Mureed Hussain, lying injured there.

The police claimed to have recovered six kilogram hashish from the injured suspect.

A Muzaffargarh police spokesman said the suspect was injured in the firing by his own accomplices, who fled away.

District Police Officer Dr Mohammed Rizwan said that the constable and the suspect were shifted to hospital for treatment.
