Eid road crashes kill nine across four districts

TOBA TEK SINGH: Nine people were killed during Eid days from Monday to Wednesday in Khanewal, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Jhang districts.

In Kabirwala, Khanewal, three people died when a milk van collided head-on with a motorcycle near the M-4 Makhdoompur interchange.

Bashiran Bibi, 60, and Robina Bibi, 25, along with her two-year-old son, were injured and died on the spot. Witnesses blamed the van`s speeding for the crash.

In Khanewal`s Mian Channu tehsil, Chak 125/15-L Jhandaywali, six-year-old Saim Javed was struck by a speeding car while crossing the road on Wednesday. Seriously wounded, he died instantly.

Fouryoung people perishedin Farooq Abad, Sheikhupura, on Tuesday when a car ran over their motorcycles near Sucha Souda on Sargodha Road. Ali, 25, Imran, 26, and Waqas, 25, died on the spot, while Ghazanfar, 32, succumbed to injuries at DHQ Hospital. All four hailed from Chak Harchand Wala.

In Samundri, Faisalabad, 12-year-old Aalyan Imran died near Zia Market on Faisalabad-Multan Road when a bus ran over him. Reports said the child, driving a motorcycle, fell due and a bus from the opposite direction crushed him.In Shorkot, Jhang, near Gagh Bahadur Canal bridge, two motorcycles collided.

Junaid Arshad, 18, died at Shorkot THQ Hospital, while the other motorcycle rider, Aslam, 45, is under treatment.

In Khurrianwala, Faisalabad, onewheeling claimed the life of Ahmad, 24, of Chak 200 RB Lathianwala, who fell on the road and died instantly on Eid day.

A man died and his wife was critically injured after their car collided with a road divider near Kashmir bridge on Canal Road in Faisalabad on Monday night. Reports said deceased Irfan Malik of Khurrianwala lost control of his speeding car at a U-turn. Both he and his wife sustained critical injuries. He died instantly, while his wife was shifted to Allied Hospital.

PROMOTION: Teaching staff of government schools in Jhang district have urged the Punjab school education minister to direct Jhang`s district education officers (DEOs) of the secondary and elementary wings, as well as school heads, to initiate their annual confidential reports (ACRs) required for promotion files.

They told reporters that school heads, as drawing and disbursing officers, along with their controlling officers (DEOs), are duty-bound to ensure the completion of ACRs and service records. However, they had not fulfilled this responsibility and were instead obtaining relievingreports and NOCs from the district against policy guidelines.

Jhang Education Authority CEO Tanveer Ahmed said DEOs of both secondary and elementary wings have been instructed to ensure the completion of teachers` ACRs and promotion files at the earliest.

DIES: A 15-year-old girl suffocated to death after her scarf entangled in an electric fodder-cutting machine in her outhouse in Gojra Chak 422-JB on Wednesday.

Reports said the deceased, Hifza Bibi, and her brother Azhar Abbas were cutting fodder when the entangled scarf strangled her throat, causing instant death.

RESCUED: A 12-year-old boy, allegedly kidnapped on Tuesday from Jaranwala, was rescued from his abductor`s custody in Nisar Colony, in Samanabad police jurisdiction in Faisalabad, on Wednesday.

Reports said the suspect brought the child to his place, where he allegedly raped him repeatedly all night. On Wednesday morning, he took the boy to a barber shop to shave his head to conceal his identity. Seizing an opportunity, the child informed the barber of his abduction.

The barber alerted locals, who overpowered the kidnapper and handed him and the child to the police.
