PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People`s Party has announced to set up protest camps at the divisional headquarters against the excessive power loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The party has also demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down, claiming that in the backdrop of various national issues he had become a security risk for the country and had no moral grounds to remain in power any longer.
The demands were raised through resolutions at a meeting of provincial cabinet of PPP held here the other day, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
The meeting also decided to issue show-cause notices to all the party workers who had participated in a procession against Mashal Khan, who was killed by a mob of students at the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.
The meeting was attended by PPP provincial president Humayun Khan, vice-president Syed Ayub Shah, general secretary Faisal Karim Kundi, deputy general secretary Bahramand Tangi, coordination secretary Sartaj Khan and others.
On the occasion, Humayun Khan directed the divisional and district level office-bearers to expedite work on the reorganisation of party at ward, union council, subdivision and tehsil levels, and send lists of office-bearers to the provincial headquarters for final approval.
The participants expressed satisfaction over the participation of workers in the public meetings addressed by PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Mardan and Malakand Agency, and said that the party had roots in masses but they needed to be contacted repeatedly.
Humayun Khan also asked the federal government to unblock the computerised national identity cards of thousands of people in the province and Federally Administered Tribal Area.
