LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday sought an implementation report on registration and fitness certificates of motorcycle-rickshaws and loader-rickshaws.
Earlier, a law officer of the Punjab government told the court that a meeting on the matters mentioned above had been held.
Justice Shahid Karim directed the government that the manufacturers and dealers of rickshaws must ensure the issuance of fitness certificates. He reiterated that licenses of companies and dealers not complying with the rules should be suspended.
A member of the court-formed judicial commission submitted a report on water recycling plants in commercial buildings and proposed an increase in the fines for illegally constructed buildings. The member said that 29 illegal commercial buildings had been constructed in one year in violation of the court orders.
He further stated that the environment department should take measures related to climate change. He said the authorities should pay attention to the disposal of old tires in markets.
The judge observed that the matter should be taken up as a pilot project by the authorities concerned.
Separately, Justice Karim granted the government`s lawyer more time to submit a report regarding the restoration of the greenbelts in Kasur.
The law officer informed the court that a report had been sought from the Kasur administration.
He said a report on the greenbelt along Ferozepur Road would be submitted by Monday.
The Judicial Activism Panel had filed a petition, saying the greenbelts along Ferozepur Road in Kasur had been completely destroyed and effectively no longer existed.
The law officer requested more time to submit the report.
The judge allowed the request and adjourned the hearing till May 5.
