ISLAMABAD: Students of as many as 14 colleges of federal capital were left perplexed on Monday as they were once again given out-ofcourse question paper in the examination.

After students, from multiple examination centres, raised an objection, they were dictated new questions through the phone, Dawn has learnt.

However, this was done too late as many students had already tried to answer the out-ofcourse question, resulting in loss of time during their exam.

Students have been facing continuous problems eversince the colleges got affiliated with the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU). Before the exams began, the students were given wrong rollnumber slips; however, the university termed that as an error in the software. Since the exams began on May 15, many students complained that they were given question papers and answer sheets late.

On May 21, students of third-year (BA/BSc) geography were given question paper of fourth year. The exam was eventually cancelled, after a protest.

On Monday, the third year students sitting a Psychology exam reported that the questions were partially out of course.

A professor of F-7/2 College, requesting anonymity, said the students started objecting after receiving the question papers. `A concerned teacher was called who confirmed that some questions were taken from the book meant for the fourth year students.

A teacher of Islamabad Model College, H-8/2,said that the management of QAU accepted their mistake, after a detailed deliberation, and admitted that the questions were given from a chapter which was in the fourth year`s book.

`At 10:30am, students of F-7/2 College were informed that they can attempt two other questions given by the QAU management,` he said.

`In H-8 College, students were informed about the changes at 11am, while students of Islamabad College for Girls, F-10, were informed at 11:15am. The finishing time of the exam was 12pm.

`By then, some of the students had already attempted the out-of-course questions, so they started criticising. However, they were eventually told that the out-of-course questions will also be marked for them,` he added.

`The management of QAU should ensure that blunders like this were not repeated,` he said.
