Dept told to submit law on private schools

LAHORE: Hearing a petition against collection of summer vacation fee in advance by private schools, the Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the Punjab education department to apprise it about the law that governed private schools.

Earlier, the department officials told the court that the notification against collection of summer vacation fee in advance was published in local newspapers for public awareness. They also presented copies of the published notification.

The court directed theofficials to submit the law that governed the private schools and adjourned further hearing till June 5.

The court allowed an application of Private Schools Association to become party to the case.

On previous hearing, the court had ordered the department to strictly enforce its policy against the collection of summer vacation fee in advance by schools.

Advocate Sheeba Qaisar had filed the petition complaining that the private schools were violating the government direction and asking for consolidated fee for three-month vacation.
