LAHORE: Provincial Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha also presented 41 additional supplementary demands for grant worth Rs168 billion, commonly known as the supplementary budget for the year 2016-17.

Out of the total supplementary demands, Rs24 billion have already been spent and approval for Rs144 billion is being sought. The biggest overspending of Rs22 billion is being charged under the head of roads and bridges building.

Land reclamation and irrigation have also cost additional Rs22bn whereas the health sector also needed another Rs21 bn. The agriculture sector took an additional Rs6.6 billion and pension Rs12bn. The biggest chunk worth Rs34bn falls under the miscellaneous head. Loans to municipalities and autonomous bodies cost an additional Rs9bn. General administration, justice, interest of debt and other obligations, floating debts and repayment of loans to the federal government jointly cost an extra Rs24bn. — Staff Reporter
