Police told to enhance security of embassies

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General of Police (operations) Ali Raza has directed the of ficials concerned to enhance security measures for embassies.
The DIG conducted a visit to the Security Division to assess security arrangements, a statement said.
It said the DIG interacted with officers of the police entrusted with the security of the diplomatic enclave and directed them for the enhancement of security measures. Emphasising the need for effective monitoring on both internal and external routes of the diplomatic enclave, he stressed the importance of ensuring effective surveillance through the Safe City centralised camera system.
`Islamabad police remain steadfast in its commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment and ensuring the protection of the lives and property of the citizens.` The DIG urged the citizens to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activities or items by dialling helpline Pucar 15 or via ICT-15 app.
Action against wrong parking Meanwhile, the police have launched a campaign against those involved in parking vehicles wrongly and creating problems in smooth flow of traffic by occupying footpaths. On the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, SSP traffic Mohammad Sarfraz Virl(is monitoring the drive.
All zonal DSPs have been directed to ensure implementation of traffic laws.

Vehicles were removed from the footpaths and their owners warned to follow rules otherwise strict action would be initiated against them.
During the ongoing year, the police also issued more than 42,000 tickets to those involved in wrong parl(ing while several vehicles were impounded for not vacating footpath.
Additionally, special squads have been constituted for removing illegal parking and vacatingfootpaths.
