Rescued wolf pups relocated to DGK Zoo

2025-06-03
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Three wolf pups have been successfully rescued from Zhob, Balochistan, and relocated to the Dera Ghazi Khan Zoo.

The operation was part of a coordinated initiative involving local and international wildlife experts.

Leghari tribes chief Muhammad Jamal Khan Leghari told Dawn that the rescue was made possible due to the combined efforts of wildlife lovers Fahad Malik, Zafeer Sheikh, Dr Hira, and a team of international wolf specialists. Out of six wolf pups, three were successfully rescued and transported to their new home in DG Khan Zoo.

The operation`s success has been largely attributed to Mr Sharifuddin Naz Baloch, the chief conservator of Balochistan.

The wolf pups were transported in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, covering the long and difficult nine-hour journey from the remote region of Zhob to Dera Ghazi Khan.

The DG Khan Zoo is recognised for its exceptional wildlife management and successful breeding programmes. Since the rescue of an initial wolf pair in 2015, the zoo`s wolf population has grown to include eight adults and four recently born pups.

The newly rescued pups will now be raised in this facility. Correspondent
