US-Egypt summit ends

SALZBURG: The Presidents of Egypt and the United States Anwar Sadat and Gerald Ford ended their first Middle East summit conference here today [June 2] with a hint at further consultations and an invitation to Mr Ford to visit Egypt. The two Presidents made brief concluding statements. President Ford indicated concrete US proposals for continuing Middle East peace efforts after his talks next week with Israeli Premier Yitzhak Rabin. The two days of talks were concluded by President Sadat with the remark that getting to know the US President had been `the outstanding event of the conference` from his point of view. News agencies [Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from New York,] the Shahanshah of Iran was quoted here yesterday [June 1] as saying that Israel is becoming impossible.

Confirming Iranian support for the Arab side in the Middle East confrontation, the Shahanshah said shared Muslim faith was only one consideration behind his policy.

Another was that he viewed the Arab cause as just. Morally we have got to support our Arab friends, not only because of religion but really because of international right and law, the Shahanshah said in an interview.
