Girl abducted again by influential suspect

SARGODHA: Young Momina, who was previously recovered after being kidnapped from Doda village in the Laksian police precinct earlier this year, has been abducted once again.

According to her father Muhammad Afzal, suspect Zubair with accomplices took the girl at gunpoint.

An FIR had already been registered at Laksian police on Jan 7, after her initial kidnapping. The minor had bravely testified against the suspects in court after her recovery.

However, her father claims that the influentialsuspectstargetedher again.`My daughter escaped once, but they came back and snatched her from our home at gunpoint,` he said tearfully.

He alleged main suspect`s brother, Mansha, has been threatening to kill him through WhatsApp calls. Police say modern technology is being used to trace the perpetrators, and they have been declared wanted. The girl`s father appealed to the chief minister to intervene and ensure his daughter`s immediate recovery and justice.

HONOUR KILLING: A man killed a youth and seriously injured a woman for honour in the Qasba Mela area.

According to police, the suspect fatally shot Bilal and injured Maryam Bibi. She was rushed to ahospital in critical condition. The Mela police arrested the suspect, while a case of murder and attempted murder has been registered.

SLIP FEE: In blatant defiance of official rates, certain elements have begun extorting animal traders andbuyersinthe city under the guise of `slip fees`.

According to sources, the approved slip fee was Rs1,000 for large animals and Rs300 for small ones. However, charges of up to Rs3,000 and Rs1,000 are being forcibly collected, openly challenging the administration`s authority.

Animal traders and locals have expressed anger at the extortion, calling it `open looting` ahead of Eid. So far, there has been no con-crete action by the concerned authorities to curb the growing malpractice.

PROJECTS: The Divisional Development Working Party, in a meeting chaired by Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan, approved revised estimates for four significant development schemes in the Health and Highways sectors.

In Bhakkar district, the upgrade of Shahani Basic Health Unit (BHU) and Sarai Mohajir BHU to rural health centres, and the construction of a trauma center, medicine store, and residential block in Mankera THQ Hospital were approved.

In Khushab district, construction and repair of a five-kilometer road from Bandial to Meru was also greenlit.
