Three die, seven hurt in rivals gunfight

KASUR: Three members of a family were killed while seven people from two rival groups were shot in a shoot-out at village Ghandian Ottar in the area of the Kot Radha Kishan Police Station on Sunday.
The two groups, one headed by an army official while the other by a retired army official, had five-year-old enmity over a piece of land.
According to police, the groups, one headed by Imran and the other by Bukram, exchanged harsh words on Friday.
On Sunday, both the groups holding arms confronted each otherin the village roundabout.
They exchanged harsh words once again and opened indiscriminate fire on each other. As a result, Imran, his brother Ramzan and nephew Abdullah died on the spot while his brothers, including Mansoor, Khalid and Aslam, suffered injuries.
Bukram and his brothers, namely Al(ram, Nadeem and Ishaq, also received bullet wounds.
On receiving information, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and shifted the bodies as well as the injured to the tehsil headquarters hospital.INJURED: Phoolnagar police arrested a robber after an alleged encounter with four robbers near Rohi Nullah, Baghiana This the second encounter during the last 24 hours and sixth in as many days with the same script template. The common thing in all these encounters is that the robbers are arrested in an injured condition after encounters.
In allthe cases, police claim that the suspects were injured by the fire of their own accomplices.
Interestingly, no cop has been injured so far in any alleged encounter.
On Sunday also, police claimed that four unidentified robbers were robbing cash from a motorcyclist at gunpoint in the limits of Saddar Phoolnagar police station.
Seeing the policemen, the outlaws opened indiscriminate fire at them that was retaliated. After a short exchange of Ere, police arrested a robber in an injured condition while his three accomplices managed to escape.
The robber in custody was identified as Boota alias Bashir of village Sarai Chhena.
Police claimed that he was wanted in Lahore and Kasur districts in over two dozen cases of robberies.
