KASUR/TOBA TEK SINGH: Three boys drowned while taking selfies along river Jhelum in Jhang district while another boy drowned in river Sutlej in district Kasur on Sunday.

Three teenagers belonging to tehsil Noorpur Thal of Khushab district drowned in the river Jhelum in district Jhang.

Rescue 1122 identified the boys as Adeel (15), Talmoor (16) and Abdul Wahab (16). They had come to visit the riverbank near Marri Shah Saghira.

They were taking selfies on the riverbanlc when one of them slipped into the water. Two others also jumped into the river to rescue him but all three of them drowned.

The rescuers as well as locals could not find the bodies of the boys and the search operation was suspended due to dark-nessin the evening.

In Jhang, a boy drowned while taking bath in the Sutlej river near village Kanganpur.

This is the second case of drowning in as many days in the Sutlej. On Saturday, a 21-year-old youth had drowned in the river near village Bhadian Usman.

On Sunday, Nabeel was beating the heat along with five other boys when he drowned. The rescuers have failed to trace his body so far.

Rescue 1122 claimed that Eve boys had been rescued from the river.

They were identified as Aslam, Iqbal, Talha, Umar and Amjad.

The survivors told Kanganpur police that they had gone to visit the riverside but decided to take a bath due to hot weather.

The district administration usually imposes a ban on bathing in the Sutlej as well as the BRB Canal but it is ignoring the ban this year.
