`Drug pusher` dies mysteriously in police custody

TOBA TEK SINGH: A `drug peddler` allegedly died under mysterious circumstances in Gojra city police custody on Sunday.
According to sources, a team of Gojra city police conducted a raid on a scrap outlet in New Plot locality on a tip-off that some drug pushers were using ice and heroin there.
During the raid, the police arrested three suspected drug pushers -Imran alias Manna Gujjar, Zahid Iqbal and Bilal Ashraf -who were lodged in the city police station lock-up.
Later, as per police, the con-dition of Gujjar deteriorated in the lock-up and was shifted to Gojra Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where he allegedly died of drug overuse.
Meanwhile, the police claimed that Hanif, the father of the deceased man, has submitted an application that his son was an addict and died of drug overdose, saying he was not willing to get his autopsy done. Gujjar`s body had been handed over to his father, the police said.
BODY FOUND: The body of a man who had been kidnapped by unidentified persons some seven months ago, was found outside his house at Chak 241GB, Bahram, Gojra, late onSaturday night.
As per police, Attig (22) had gone missing and his family lodged a kidnapping case againstunidentiñed persons.
Kulshoom Bibi, the victim`s mother, told the police that unidentified car occupants threw the body wrapped in a polythene sack outside her house and escaped.
As per the victim`s relatives, the body had decomposed and they identiñed it through the clothes. The police shifted the body to Gojra THQ hospital for an autopsy.
MURDERED: A farmer was murdered at Samundri in Faisalabad district allegedly over a land dispute on Sunday.According to Samundri Sadar police, Sajawal Khan was worl(ing in the fields at Chak 176-GB when his opponents allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on him. As a result, he was critically wounded and died while being shifted to Samundri THQ hospital.
PROTEST: Local media persons staged a protest demonstration outside Toba press club against desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
Led by press club president Manzoor Ahmed Naz, the protesters raised slogans against Swedish government.
In their speeches on the occasion, the journalists termed the incident a global conspiracyand a threat to the world peace.
They said Islam teaches peace and brotherhood, while `infidel forces` keep on hurting the Muslims` sentiments through such conspiracies.
They urged the government and the leaders of other Islamic countries around the world to take concrete steps to counter such conspiracies.
