65 pilgrims injured as bus overturns

TOBA TEK SINGH: As many as 65 pilgrims returning to Toba Tek Singh after visiting shrine of Bibian Pak Daman in Lahore were injured when their bus overturned on Philour-Toba Road after its tie rod broke down here on Sunday.

Police and Rescue 1122 personnel said 70 men belonging to the Shia community, led by Syed Tayyab Shamsi from Chalc 331 JB Athwal and two localities of Bakhshi Park and Mustafa Town, had gone to Lahore on Saturday. When their bus was on its way back on Sunday, it overturned near Chak 358 GB Ganjoo. As a result 65 of them received wounds. Of them, 25 suffered critical injuries and were shifted to DHQ hospital where doctors referred three of them to Faisalabad Allied hospital.

Others were provided with first aid by rescuers.

The critically injured were identified as Zafar, Asif, Shahzad, Sameer, Hamza, Samar, Waris, Imtiaz, Mosin, Fageer Hussain, Kazim, Abbas, Zafar, Baqir, Sultan, Ayub, Raza, Zain, Kashan, Zaamin, Shakil, Ageel, Tayab Shamsi, Nabil and Haider.
