PESHAWAR: A traffic policeman was martyred when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on him near the Kabotar Chowk on the Ring Road here on Tuesday, the police said.
The incident took place in the limits of Paharipura police station, and the martyred cop identified as constable Mohammad Zahir Shah was on his way home after duty hours when he was attacked.
The police said unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on him near the Abasin University close to the Kabotar Chowk.
The police said that a search operation was launched in the area following the attack. Funeral prayers of the martyred cop were offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.
KP police chief Akhtar Hayat Khan, capital city police officer Syed Qasim Ali Khan, SSP operations Kashif Zulfiqar and other officials attended the funeral.
Talking to martyred cop`s family, Akhtar Hayat paid homage to his services. He assured the family that police would leave no stone unturned to unmask the attackers behind the murder.-Bureau Report
