GWADAR: A member of the district council Kech was gunned down and another injured in the Khairabad area of Turbat on Tuesday.

Levies officials said that Abdul Haleem Baloch, the member of the district council, was going to his home when men riding a motorcycle opened fire on him. He died on the spot.

Another man identified as NazeerAhmed was injured in the firing.

The body and the injured were taken to the civil hospital where Nazeer Ahmed was admitted.

The motive behind the murder has notbeenascertained asyetandnoone has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Levies officials believe that it is an incident of target killing.

In another incident, a member of the district council of Momin Dashti survived an attempt on his life.Sources said that unidentified people opened fire on his car in the Sangai area of Kech.

The chairman of the district council in Kech, Fida Hussain Dashti, condemned the attack on Mr Baloch and demanded arrest of peopleinvolvedinit.

Meanwhile, security forces arrested Rashid Jalise, the son of prominent Baloch journalist and historian Haji Muhammad Ibrahim Jalise Nagori, in Tump town of Kech district. However, he was released af ter an investigation.
