Nine LDA officials suspended on complaints

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Nabeel Javed suspended from service on Tuesday nine town planning wing officials for their alleged corruption, inefficiency and negligence, which he came to know through public complaints.
He also issued warning notices to two directors for not monitoring performance of their junior staff.
According to a spokesman, suspended ofhcials include assistant directors Salman Raza and Tayyab Ali, sub-engineers Muhammad Azam Javed and MuhammadNaveed Yousaf, record keepers Muhammad Amin, Hafeez Ahmad, Syed Mehtab Ali and Zahuruddin and senior clerk Naseem Iqbal.
Warning letters were issued to directors Syed Nadeem Akhtar Zaidi and Rai Muhammad Ashraf.
The DG took action after his surprise visit to the one-window cell on Tuesday. The public complaints were related to objections on public applications, non-disposal of complaints even after deadlines and delaying tactics by the officials.
On the occasion, he asked the people to drop their complaints in a box placed at the cell and the senior management would take action on the complaints.Mr Javed told Dawn he was forced to take action after his continuous observation of the working of officials.
SACRIFICIAL ANIMALS: The City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) has made a plan to set up seven sale points for sacrificial animals in various parts of the provincial capital.
These sale points will be operational from Aug 23 with imposition of ban under Section 144 on the sale of animals at any other place.
It was decided in a meeting, presided over by District Coordination Officer retired Captain Muhammad Usman held here at Town Hall on Tuesday.According to the plan, the animals` sale points will be established at Shahpur Kanjran, Adda Rakh Shabeel, Bankers Society near Kamahan, Hazrat Ali Road Saggian, Main Saggian, Ravi Town and Kahna Kacha in front of ATS Factory.
Meanwhile, the Lahore administration sought making all ef forts to avoid any possible spread of Congo virus in the city.
Speaking in a seminar, the DCO directed the livestock officials to make arrangements to avoid the virus by carrying out fumigation at all sale points and other selected areas of the city. Livestock department and butchers` representativesalso attended the seminar.
PFA: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed various ice factories, food outlets and eateries for flouting hygiene standards.
According to a spokesperson, the authority sealed Sarwar Bakery, Hafeez Ice Factory, Chiragh Din Ice Factory, Ali Milk Shop, Bismillah Milk Shop and Blue Ice Water Filtration Plant in the areas of Samanabad, Ravi, Data Ganj Bakhsh and Gulberg towns.
Meanwhile, various price control magistrates had 104 shopkeepers arrested and imposed fine of Rs112,600 on others for overcharging, hoarding and selling substandard commodities.
