Funds okayed for rehabilitation of rain-hit infrastructure: CM

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur has said that funds have already been allocated for rehabilitation of the infrastructure battered by torrential rains in the province He expressed these views during a meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lawmakers and other party leaders from across the province held at the Chief Minister`s House.
He said relief activities and rehabilitation of affected infra-structure and households would be carried out without delay, according to a statement issued here on Friday.
Matters related to progress on public welfare projects, rehabilitation of rain and flood-hit infrastructure and relief activities came up for discussion.
Mr Gandapur said that the rain-hit families would be compensated on first priority as the district administrations were already working on the matter.
Touching upon the developmental strategy of his government, the chief minister said some 600 projects nearing completion had been identifiedacross the province, which would be completed by December.
He said powers related to planning development projects had also been devolved to the grassroots level with the aim to ensure that the projects were finalised and implemented as per the needs of the people.
He urged the public representatives to propose development projects keeping in view the needs and priorities of the people of their respective constituencies. He said it was the responsibility of all of them to ensure that the taxpayers` money was utilised in a judi-cious manner.
`Development projects should be inaugurated only when they are complete in all respects,` he said, and added no inauguration shall be done merely for the purpose of putting up one`s name plaque.
The meeting also reviewed the arrangements for the public meeting to be held in Swabi on August 5 on the call of party`s founder Imran Khan.
The chief minister said all the party leaders and parliamentarians would have to play proactive role in making the proposed public gathering a success and historic one.
