`Law and order normal`

LAHORE: Maulana Mufti Mahmud Chief Minister of NWFP has said that the law and order situation in NWFP is normal throughout the province, although some elements tried to create disruption.

Talking to newsmen ... today [Sept 2], he said the NWFP Government had arrested thirteen `so-called` labour and peasant leaders who tried to take the law in their own hands. The Chief Minister said he had a talk with the leaders of the Mazdoor Kisan Party and requested them not to exploit the poor people, but they refused to listen ... and there was no alternative left ... but to arrest them. These leaders would be kept behind bars till they promised to `change their attitude`, he said.
