Honey-trap victims freed from dacoits` clutches

SUKKUR: Two men kidnapped by dacoits after luring them into honeytrap were rescued in separate intelligence-based operations carried out in the riverine areas of upper Sindh over the last 24 hours, police said on Monday evening.
Acting upon a tip-off, a joint team of Sukkur police and an intelligence agency conducted a raid on a hideout, located in the riverine area of Baiji Sharif, from where a kidnap victim was to be shifted to some other place.
According to the police, the dacoits guarding the hideout opened fire as soon as the raiding team reached close to it. An encounter ensued during which the dacoits retreated and fled the area.
The raiding team entered the hideout and rescued Shah Naseem Khan, a resident of Punjab. Naseem Shah had travelled to Ghouspur town of KandhkotKashmore district about two months ago, after falling into a honey-trap, the police said.
The police cordoned off the area and started a hunt for the fleeing dacoits.
Separately, the Shikarpur police along with intelligence officials carried out an operation in the riverine area of Katcho Katti on the outskirts of Kandhkot-Kashmore district to rescue another honey-trap victim.
They rescued Shahnawaz Mazari, who was lured into the trap by a dacoit,speaking in a woman`s voice. He was called to the Sarhad area of Ghotki district for a `date` and as soon as he reached the specified spot about 15 days ago, he was taken away into the Katcho Katti area at gun point, Shikarpur SSP Shahzebe Chachar told the media.
He said that officers and personnel from Rustam and Naparkot police stations guided by the intelligence men took part in the action.
Man shot dead Armed men barged into a house in Mochi Basti locality of Saddar in Jacobabad district and shot dead a man late Sunday night.
Officials at the Saddar police station said that the victim, Zulfiqar Jamali, had strained relations with some of his close relatives over some matrimonial matter.
However, they appeared not sure about a motive behind the murder.
They said the assailants drove up to the house, broke into it and targeted Jamali before coming out and fleeing under the cover of aerial firing.
Jamali was first taken to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital, where doctors referred him to the Chandka Medical College Hospital due to his critical condition.
His relatives transported him to Larkana but he succumbed to his wounds on the way to the hospital. His body was brought back to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination.
