ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 17 accused involved in attacks on the Parliament House and the PTV building in September last year for their absence from the court proceedings.
ATC Judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi directed the police to produce them before the court on next date of hearing on December 1.
During the last year’s sit-in, hundreds of protesters allegedly belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) had attacked the state run PTV and the Parliament House.
An FIR was registered on the complaint of Secretariat police SHO.
The ATC had earlier issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and several others in response to two separate FIRs registered by the secretariat police for attacking the state buildings.
Over 100 workers and supporters of both PTI and PAT were booked and later released on bail in cases pertaining to the said attacks.
