ISLAMABAD: The capital administration has decided to remove all bus terminals at Faizabad as they were constructed on the government land, sources told Dawn on Monday.

The owners and operators of the bus terminals have been given a two-day deadline, the sources said.

A police official on the condition of anonymity said the administration would start the operation on Wednesday which would continue till Friday or the removal of all the terminals.

He said some of the terminal owners had obtained a stay order from the court. `Efforts are in progress to get the stay order cancelled,` he added.

`The bus terminals are illegal and established there without the permission of the authorities concerned,` he said, adding that there were some officials who provided assistance in establishing the terminals.

Besides, the terminals cause massive traffic jams in the area and its surroundings, they said, adding that the terminals also led to developing a number of businesses in the area but majority of them were illegal.

The officials further stated that same action was considered at Pirwadhai Mor.

The operators of the terminals at Piwadhai Mor had offices in the limits of Rawalpindi, but they had established terminals at green belts in the Islamabad area.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad when contacted confirmed that the operation would be launched by Wednesday and will continue till Friday.
