Traders seek security cameras in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The business community here has urged the Peshawar police to install CCTV cameras at prominent places and reinforce the police force in populated areas to check movement of suspected people. The demand was raised by the traders` representatives during a meeting with Peshawar SSP (operations) Sajjad Khan here on Wednesday. The traders suggested that number of the police personnel, including policewomen, should be increased in the city police stations.

In addition, they also asked for patrolling of riders squad to check movement of people in the narrow streets and on the link roads. The traders apprised the SSP of the reservations of business community about the security issues, delay in arrest of the killers of trader Haji Haleem Jan and stressed the need for close liaison of police and traders to overcome security issues.

According to a statement, the SSP assured the business community of accommodating its suggestions for maintenance of law and order and to provide foolproof security to the citizens.

He appreciated the traders for the cooperation they had extended to the law enforcers during Muharram.

Traders, including Mehr Ilahi, Shakeel Ahmed, Shaukat Ali Durrani and others, spoke on the occasion. They recalled the sacrinces of police force it rendered for security of people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that traders and police would stay united to fight terrorism.
