Over 100 arrested in Lakki operation

LAKKI MA RWAT: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested over 100 criminals during last one month in the ongoing operation in parts of the district.
An official said that the police was also backed by the elite force commandos and armoured personnel carriers, especially during the operation in border areas. He said that the cops nabbed 130 criminals wanted in murder, attempted murder, robbery and other such cases. He said that around 520 other suspects were also arrested during raids.
The official said that the police also seized 28 Kalashnikovs, 2 Kalakovs, eight rifles, 33 shotguns, 166 pistols, 24kg hashish and over 3,000 bullets.
Meanwhile, a meeting chaired by district police officer Khalid Hamdani decided that the people should register their licenced weapons with the nearby police stations. SP Investigation Tauheed Khan, DSPs and SHOs also attended the meeting.
The station house of ficerswere tasked to display banners in their respective areas urging the people to register their licenced weapons with the police stations.
APPOINTED: The Elementary and Secondary Education Department appointed 63 class-IV employees in different schools of the district here on Thursday.
An official said that the appointments had been made to fill vacant posts in primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools on merit and under the quota for the retired employees` sons. He said that all formalities had been fulfilled in these recruitments.
District councillors Iqbal Hussain and Munawar Khan distributed the appointment letters to the newlyrecruited employees and advised them to perform their duty with honesty.
A headmaster said on the condition of anonymity that the appointment of class-IV servants would end the security-related concerns of the schools` heads.
