Concerns voiced over increasing intolerance in society

KARAK: Khushal Khan Khattak University Vicechancellor Dr Jehan Bakht has shown concerns over increase in intolerance in the society.
Addressing a ceremony held here on Thursday to give away awards to the position holders of English department, he asked the youth to play their role in formation of a tolerant society. He said that youth should get involved in healthy co-curricular activities to put their energies in right direction.
Dr Jehan said that youth should get education to cope with the present day`s challenges.
He appreciated the performance of English department and asked social scientists to channelise the energies of youth in a positive direction.
Speaking on the occasion, Pro Vice-chancellor Dr Mirza Jan said that co-curricular activities instilled sense of competition among the students.
Syed Hanif Rasool Kakakhel, head of English department, said on the occasion that educational institutions contributing alot to the society by preparing mindset of youth. He added that the institutions inculcated critical thinking in the students.
Fasihur Rehman, a lecturer of English department, also addressed the ceremony. At the end, the vice-chancellor gave away shields and awards to the position holder students of the department.
ARRESTED: Police claimed to have arrested a notorious proclaimed offender after a brief encounter in Latamber area of district Karak.
According to a press release, issued here on Thursday by the office of DPO Abddur Rasheed, police raided the hideout of proclaimed offender Abidullah when they got information about his presence there. It said that he opened fire on the raiding party but police arrested him after a brief resistance.
A Kalashnikov and ammunition were also recovered from his possession.
Police also claimed to have arrested another proclaimed offender and car lif ter Sajjad Ghani. Both the arrested persons were shifted to Latamber police station for investigations.
