PkMAP pledges to unite Pakhtuns

By Amanullah Kasi 2011-12-03
QUETTA, Dec 2: The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) observed the 38th death anniversary of the founder of the party, Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai, and vowed to continue the late leader`s mission of accomplishing Pakhtun unity.

Addressing a public meeting on Friday, the party leaders paid tribute to Mr Achakzai for rendering sacrifices during the struggle against the colonial rule and later for restoration of democracy and constitutional supremacy in the country.

Usman Kakar, Dr Kaleemullah Khan, Rauf Lala, Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal and Dr Hamid Khan Achakzai said the aim of the PkMAP`s struggle was to unite divided Pakhtun areas into one province.

They said the PkMAP and other democratic parties had played an important role in the struggle against the Musharraf dictatorship but alleged that important decisions on foreign affairs and domestic issues were still being taken in the GHQ, instead of parliament.

They said that in a democratic set-up civilian governments took decisions and the armed forces and spy agencies remained subservient to parliament, but such equation did not exist in our country.

A statement issued by the party said that public meetings and seminars were also held in Pishin, Chaman, Loralai, Qila Saifullah and Ziarat to observe the death anniversary of Mr Achakzai.

The participants paid homage to the late leader for his untiring efforts to achieve rights for Pakhtuns.
