Governor for harassment-free campuses

TOBA TEK SINGH: Governor Sardar Saleem Haider has said that it is his priority to make universities harassmentfree so that students can continue their educational activities in a peaceful environment.
At the lith convocation of the University of Faisalabad on Monday, he commended graduates for honouring their parents` sacrifices and urged them to contribute to Pakistan`s development. He highlighted the importance of understanding Islam through the university`s regular seminars.
Medals were awarded to 87 graduates, including 20 gold, 47 silver and 20 bronze.
COMMISSIONER: FaisalabadCommissioner Silwat Saeed ordered sugar mill owners to clear dues owed to sugarcane growers within 10 days or face confiscation and auctioning of their sugar stocks.
Addressing deputy commissioners during a meeting on Monday, she directed them to publicise defaulting mills and discourage growers from supplying sugarcane to them.
She also reviewed wheat sowing progressandlearnedthat97pcofthe target had been achieved with sowing of over 1.83 million acres. Complainant patwari Sadagat Ali claimed in his FIR registered under sections 506, 186, 148 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code that Farman Ali and others of Chak 496 GB threatened him of dire consequences if he forced them to pay dues.
ACCIDENT: An underage motorcyclist died in a collusion to a truck near Chak 240 GB in Jaranwala, Faisalabad, on Monday.
Rescue 1122 said 16-year-old Abdul Rahman received critical injuries and died on way to the Jaranwala THQ hospital. Also, a 15-year-old boy died after he was hit by a train near Basti Fareed Abad locality in Khanewal on Monday.

RAPE: A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old boy in Chak 401 GB, Tandlianwala, on Monday.
Reports said the suspect lured the boy to a vacant house and raped him. Police have taken the suspect into custody.
FRAUD: Muhammad Naveed, a clerk at Gojra Khushali Microfinance Bank, allegedly misappropriated Rs4 million from account holders and fled.
An FIR was filed by branch manager Muhammad Shahbaz.
Police raided the suspect`s residence in Chak 245-GB but failed to locate him.
