GUJRANWALA: Three robbers, including a woman, were arrested while two passers-by and a cameraman of a TV channel, were injured in an encounter in Faisal Colony in the Khayali police area on Sunday.
According to reports, the three robbers broke into a house and made the family hostage. The residents of the surrounding houses called the police who responded to the call immediately and reached there. When police knocked at the door, the robbers opened Ere on them.
A heavy contingent of police was called along with Elite Force personnel and an armoured vehicle and operation started under the supervision of SP Tahir Maqsood Cheena and SP Dr Rizwan.
Police fired teargas and broke open the main gate of the house with the armoured vehicle. The robbers surrendered when they were left with no other option.
During the exchange of fire, three people, namely a cameraman of a privateTV channel Shahzad and two passers-by, were injured and they were taken to the district headquarters hospital.
The arrested woman robber was identified as Mamoona and the other two robbers could not be identified yet.
INJURED: Two people, including a woman, were injured in a celebratory fire here on Sunday at Kalir Village while police arrested four guests.
Reports said Ghulam Abbas and his friends resorted to celebratory firing at the wedding ceremony of Qaiser Anwar. As a result two guests, including Sughran Bibi, suffered injuries.
Ghakkar police have arrested Muhammad Aslam, Ashraf, Yasir and Ahsan Arshad and registered a case against them.
KILLED: A minor boy was killed by his friend during bird hunting here on Sunday at Ladaywala village.
Reports said two friends Sheraz, 9, and Tauseef, 10, were hunting birds with an airgun. Tauseef aimed at the bird but the bullet hit Sheraz who died on the spot. Police have arrested Tauseef.
