T HIS refers to Irfan Husain`s article `Who pays the bills?` (Jan 2). It was not surprising to find the writer targeting Imran Khan yet again for his `lavish` lifestyle.
Given that Mr Khan`s income tax returns are a matter of public record, all he has to do is to look through them to find out his sources of income.
That would save the writer from the embarrassment of his ignorance. Also, as Mr Khan has not occupied any government office, the issue of corruption does not arise.
While the writer can discover Mr Khan`s income sources himself, let me remove his ignorance on how things worked during our pre-lockdown period when workers had gathered outside Banigala.
A tandoor was set up and contributions came from party leaders and workers for the simple food that was made available to the workers (many of whom incidentally had also brought their own rations). The media present there was privy to the working of the tandoor.
As for `housing`, the workers were sleeping in the open with basic bedding provided by party volunteers. Of course, Mr Khan`s sister`s underconstruction house also provided shelter to some.
On personal visits abroad, Mr Khan uses the national carrier as a regular passenger.
