PU honours Anna Molka with fourth awards, exhibition

LAHORE: The fourth Anna Molka awards and exhibition were inaugurated at Punjab University`s College of Art and Design (PUCAD) to honour the college`s founder on Monday.
The ceremony saw the presence of PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, PU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Principal CAD Dr Samina Naseem, former principals, faculty members and a large number of students.
The participants paid tribute to Anna Molka, the renowned artist and founder of the College of Art and Design.
Prof Shah emphasised the importance of fine arts in reflecting andeducating society, creating hope for improvement and promoting positive societal trends.
Dr Naseem said Anna Molka founded the college in 1940 and described her artworks as masterpieces.
She said Anna Molka`s artworks and teaching methods remain worthy of imitation. The awards serve as a tribute to her enduring historic legacy.
This year, the college received 250 submissions, with 118 outstanding works selected for review across six categories: painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, fiber arts, and digital arts.
Dr Naseem said the jury had the challenging task of selecting winners from two age groups: 20-40 years and above 40 years.
Prizes were later distributed tothe artists who won the Anna Molka awards.
Meanwhile, the PU library and the Institute of Information Management (IIM) jointly organised a one-day workshop on `Metaanalysis: Techniques, Tools, and Best Practices.
Over 50 faculty members, researchers and medical professionals from various universities participated.
Resource person Irfan explained the theoretical and practical aspects of meta-analysis and provided hands-on training on two software tools: Meta-Essential and Comprehensive Meta-Analysis.
The workshop concluded with IIM`s Dr Muhammad Rafiq and Chief Librarian Dr Haroon Usmani distributing certificates among the participants.
