Youth brutally tortured over unpaid debt

TOBA TEK SINGH: Two youths allegedly brutally tortured a 21-yearold man in Toba Tek Singh over a Rs5,000 debt.

According to an FIR registered by Toba City police under sections 365 and 375-A of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, complainant Naghmana alleged that suspects Rehan and Shehzad abducted her son Shahbaz from their house in Housing Colony.

They took him to Shehzad`s house on the outskirts of Chak 325-JB, where they stripped him naked, hung him from the ceiling and tortured him.

The suspects also inserted chilli powder into his private parts and filmed the ordeal on a mobile phone.

The police arrested Rehan, while raids were ongoing to arrest Shehzad.

The police also siezed the mobile phone containingthe footage of the incident.

ADJOURNED: A Faisalabad anti-terrorism court on Monday adjourned the hearing of the May 9 riots case until Feb 6 and framed charges against PTI Parliamentary Leader in the National Assembly Zartaj Gul and former provincial minister Khayal Ahmad Kastro.

Ms Gul was not present in court and her counsel Malik Khalid Shafiq, received the charge sheet on her behalf. The court also granted her a onetime exemption from appearing at Monday`s hearing.

SUICIDE: A man died by suicide by jumping in front of a moving train inGojra on Monday.

According to a Rescue 1122 report, 47-year-old Ehtishamul Haq from Nowshera, KP, jumped in front of the non-stop Rehman Baba Express traveling from Peshawar to Karachi. His body was cutinto severalpieces.

In another incidentinGojra, motorcycle rider Muhammad Husnain, 50, of Chak 333 JB, was run over and killed by a trailer on Jhang Road.

Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, motorcyclists Shahzaib, 23, and Munir Ramzan, 50, died and 17-year-old pillion rider Aneeza was injured when their bikes collided headon near Sikandar Chowk on Jaranwala-Shahkot Road due to speeding.

The injured girl was taken to Jaranwala THQ Hospital.

WEBSITE: The website for the 5th International Students Convention (ISC) and Expo, set to take place from Feb 23 to 25, was launched on Monday by Dr Rauf-i-Azam, ViceChancellor of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF).

ISC founder Muhammad Murtaza Noor was also present.

The convention, hosted by GCUF and the University of Faisalabad, aims to promote a positive image of Pakistan and provide a platform for national and international students to exchange experiences and expertise.

UAF: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) hosted the Rana Manzoor Khan, Raja Rustam Khan Memorial Greyhound Derby Championship on Monday, attracting greyhound racing enthusiasts.

UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Sarwar Khan said the university is regarded as a guardian of rural culture, and such events provide both entertainment and an opportunity to strengthen ties between farmers and agricultural scientists.

Dr Haroon Zaman and Dr Shahid Ibni Zamir also addressed the participants.

P A I N T I N GCOMPETITION: The Art and Design Institute, in collaboration with Friends of Police, organised a painting competition on Monday, with Acting CPO Faisalabad Rana Abdul Wahab as the chief guest.

The event was also attended by Anjuman Tajiran President Shahid Razak Sakka, Friends of Police in-charge Farah Batool and teachers and students of the institute.

The students created artwork highlighting the efforts and responsibilities of the police.

Acting CPO Faisalabad distributed certificates and cash prizes to the students who secured top positions in the competition.
