Govt urged to consult tribal people on FCR

2013-03-04
KHAR, March 3: Tribal elders and members of peace committees from different parts of Bajaur Agency has urged the government to take Fata people into confidence before further reforming Frontier Crimes Regulation.

They said this at a seminar organised by NGO Da Khalgo Awaz here the other day.

Noted among those in attendance were Malik Abdul Aziz Khan, Malik Mohammad Akbar Khan, Malik Hafzur Rehman and Malik Abdul Nasar Khan.

The speakers said FCR was the best system for tribal areas and the people wouldnot accept more changes in it.

They said reforms in FCR were enough and that tribesmen wouldn`t want more changes in it because further reforms would distribute the existing tribal system.

The speakers criticised political parties for their demanding abolition of FCR in tribal areas and said they wouldn`t allow anyone to do so.

`The demand of FCR abolition is not favoured by tribesmen as they feel the meeting of the demand will create problems for the entire tribal area,` a speaker said. Correspondent
