Unexpected rain hits parts of Sindh

KARACHI: Unexpected rains lashed Karachi, Thatta, parts of Dadu and Jamshoro districts on Monday, causing a sudden rise in cold.
Many areas of the city received light rains during the day, particularly in the morning, with PAF Base Faisal getting the maximum amount of the downpour 20 millimetres, slightly less than an inch said a met official.
Responding to Dawn queries the weatherman said that he expected light rains on Tuesday as well.
The rain turned weather slightly chilly.
He said that other city areas that received rains included Landhi 17 mili metres; Gulshan-iHadeed 14.5 mm; Airport 12 mm; Nazimabad 6.5 mm; North Karachi 2.7 mm and PAF Base Masroor getting traces.
He said that minimum temperature recorded in the metropolis on Monday was 15 degrees Celsius and maximum temperature recorded was 27 degrees Celsius with the humidity moisture in the atmosphere remaining at 52 per cent.
He said that minimum temperature in the city on Tuesday was expected to remain between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, while the weather on the Tuesday was expected to remain partly cloudywith chances of light rain.
He said a few other areas in the province that received some rain on Monday were Padidan 12 mm; Shaheed Benazirabad 7 mm; Moenjodaro 7 mm; Larkana 4 mm; Dadu 2 mm; Sukkur 1 mm; while rainfall in Hyderabad and Jacobabad amounted to traces.He said the weather in the interior of the province was expected to remain cloudy with chances of rain, thunderstorm on Tuesday.
Dadu Unexpected heavy rains and strong winds lashed Thatta, parts of Dadu and Jamshoro districts on Monday, uprooting trees, signboards and electricity poles in many areas.
The rain hit Dadu, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Mehar, Johi, Bhan Syedabad, Sehwan, Amri, Sann, Khanoth and Manjhand where strong winds uprooted an unspecified number of trees and electricity poles and blew away signboards.
It disturbed power supply and communication system and caused hiccups in drainage system.
Wheat growers were not so happy at the rain`s arrival at this juncture and cautioned if it rained further it would harm the wheat ready for harvest.
Thatta Widespread rain and hails hit different parts of Thatta district, causing a sudden rise in cold. It also rained in Dabeji, Garho, Jhimpeer, Jhirk, Mirpur Sakro and Makli. Hailstorm coupled with rain also battered some hilly areas in the district.
