Harassment, blackmail charges Forensic analysis of Mepco CEO`s phone ordered

MULTAN: The Federal Investigation Agency special court on Tuesday directed the FIA authorities to seize mobile phones of the Multan Electric Power Company Chief Executive Officer Chaudhry Tahir Mahmood and a female employee of Mepco for forensic analysis over the allegations of harassment and blackmail.

The female Mepco employee filed a petition with the court against the FIA Cyber Crime Wing director and others, stating that three ofhcers of the company -Director Mian Muhammad Sohail Afzal, Assistant Director Khizar Hayat and Jamshed hacked her phone data to blackmail her by way of sexual harassment.

She stated that she approached the Mepco CEO with a complaint about the conduct of the of ficers concerned.

She stated that instead of taking action against the three officers, the CEO himself started harassing her sexually and continued sending objectionable messages to her.

She said that her request to the CEO for not harassing her was also of no avail and the CEO with the connivance of thethree accused ofhcers got published scandalous news articles in local newspapers, besides circulating her data intentionally among the company employees after his nefarious designs failed.

She said that she approached the FIA complaint against the illegal conduct of the accused officers, including the Mepco CEO and submitted an application for the registration of a case, but FIA assistant director (AD), Cyber Crime Wing, did not bother to take action against them.

She said the accused officers, being posted at influential posts in Mepco were using their influence on the FIA assistant director who was delaying the matter and was not performing his duty.

She stated that despite passing of nine months her application was pending with the FIA assistant director who was delaying investigation into the matter.

She said that she was being harassed in the of fice continuously by the accused officers, including the CEO.

Judge Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti directed the FIA authorities to seize the cell phones of the Mepco CEO and the complainant, besides conducting fair and transparent inquiry into the case.
