Women urged to be vigilant about online harassment

SA HIWA L: Women are more vulnerable to harassment when using digital spaces, including the popular social media apps and websites, and they should be more vigilant before posting and publishing anything at online.
This is what was highlighted in an interactive seminar conducted by the Digital Rights Foundation at the Government Post Graduate College Sahiwal on Tuesday.
The participants debated issueson gender and privacy and the students shared their experiences and concerns regarding their online safety protocols. Zainab Durrani, the programme manager of the Digital Rights Foundation, educated the students on privacy at both online and of fline spaces.
Ms Seerat talked at length about meaning of online right to privacy.
She stressed the need to turn the proposed draft into law. She said the helpline by the Digital Rights Foundation offered the legal aid and counseling, online safety assistance and psychological supportservices.
The session also touched state legislation called `The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA), and its relevant provisions as pertaining to the audience and the key concepts of data protection. Principal Dr Mumtaz Ahmed also spoke.
CONTEST: Around 100 students of five public and private sector colleges will participate in `Street Art` competition going to be organised by the Sahiwal Medical College tomorrow (March 5).
The competition will start from 8 am and will continue till 3 pm.
