Shopkeeper shot dead by robbers

KARACHI: A shopkeeper was gunned down by robbers in Scheme-33, police said on Monday.

The Sachal police said Khan Muhammad, 65, was shot and killed during a robbery at Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth late on Sunday night.

They said that three muggers riding a motorcycle arrived there, attempted to enter the shop at gunpoint. When the shopkeeper put up resistance, they opened fire and fled.

He suffered a single bullet wound in the chest and was taken to the nearby Memon Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Later, the body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

A case has been registered under Sections 393 (robbery or attempt to commit robbery), 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of deceased’s brother Maula Dad against three unknown robbers.

Reckless driving claims woman’s life in Bahria Town

A reckless driver claimed the life of a woman inside Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

Gadap City SHO Sarfaraz Jatoi said that victim Rehana Aziz, 58, was standing on the main Jinnah Avenue signal along with her daughter when a fast-moving car hit her. She suffered critical injuries and was taken to Bahria Hospital where she was declared dead.

BTK security guards intercepted the car along with the errant driver, Mohammed Umer, and handed him over to the police for legal action.
