Islamabad administration, ICCI to raise awareness of labour laws

ISLAMABAD: In an effort to ensure the protection of workers` rights, the Islamabad administration`s Labour Welfare Department and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) have joined hands to collaborate in raising awareness of labour laws.
This landmark understanding was reached during the visit of Director Labour ICT Ms Nisha Ishtiaq to ICCI where she held a productive meeting with President ICCI Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, along with Senior Vice PresidentAbdul Rehman Siddiqui, Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry, and executive members of the chamber.
This Will also help in promoting compliance of labour laws and business friendly environment.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Nisha Ishtiaq emphasised her department`s commitment to consolidating and simplifying labour laws to eliminate overlaps, making compliance easier for businesses.
She advocated for a collaborative approach where laws are formu-lated in consultation with employers and employees` representatives to collectively address critical issues, including the eradication of child labour.
ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi appreciated the proactive approach of the Labor Welfare Department and stressed the importance of a strong partnership between the business community and labour administration to drive economic progress, industrial growth, and workforce well-being.
He also highlighted the need for harmonised and simplified labour laws, industry-focused vocational training programmes, and efficient alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to create a businessfriendly environment and accelerating the country`s economic development.
Both sides termed the meeting highly productive, positive, and result-oriented, expressing confidence that the ongoing collaboration will play a pivotal role in aligning labour laws with business growth, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic uplift of the region. Staff Reporter
