Suspected robber shot, injured near Margalla Hills

TAXILA: A suspected robber, who shot and injured a Dolphin squad official and had been wanted in a number of other similar cases was arrested in injured condition after a brief shootout with police near Margalla hills in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station on Monday.

A police spokesman said that police intercepted four men riding on two different motorcycles near Margalla hills who opened fire at them which was retaliated against.

Subsequently, three of them escaped while one was arrested in injured condition and was later identified as Mohammad Saleem who was involved in injuring a Dolphin squad official named constable Aamir on Jan 30 in Jameelabad area in abotched robbery incident besides firing another Dolphin patrolling staff member on Feb 4 besides a number of robberies and street crime cases in Taxila and Wah.

Meanwhile, police arrested five alleged gamblers and recovered stake money, mobile phones and gambling tools from their possession during a raid here on Monday.

According to the spokesman, Wah Saddar police, acting on tip off raided a den and arrested seven gamblers red handed while they were gambling. Taxila police registered a case against all of them and further investieation is underway.SP Potohar circle Waqas Khan appreciated the performance of the police team, saying that gambling is the root cause of other crimes and that a crackdown will continue against those involvedin such crimes.

Bhattar police arrested a man who looted a construction contractor at gun point on Oct 11, 2022. According to a police spokesman, Ameer Hamza, a construction contractor, was robbed at gunpoint and mobile phones and other valuables worth Rs150,000 were snatched from him.

The spokesman said that an investigation team traced the suspect through human and digital intelligence and arrested him from Islamabad. Police also recovered looted items from his possession.
