Three persons looted

ISLAMABAD: Three people were robbed in different incidents in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

A group of five persons came to a grocery store of Mohammad Iqbal near Golra police station and snatched cash Rs400,000 cash from him, police said.

In another incident, a family member narrowly escaped a firing of a robber, they added.

An armed robber entered the house of Mohammad Imran in F-10/2 and held up one of his family members at gunpoint asking her to surrender cash and valuables.

Seeing a mobile phone in the hand of one of the family members, the gunman thought that the family had informed police, they said, adding that he ran towards the basement in panic and eventually went outside through the basement door. Imran`s elder brother also came outside from the ground floor, the police said, adding that the robber opened fire on the elder brother but fortunately he remained unhurt.

Imran and his brother were able to capture the robber and hand him over to police.

Meanwhile, a trader from Sargodha was robbed of Rs8.4 million by four robbers in the jurisdiction of Ganj Mandi police, while an expatriate woman was robbed of British pounds 2,400 and gold jewellery worth over Rs1 million while travelling from Islamabad International Airport.

Mohammad Iqbal complained to police that he and two other persons were going back to Sargodha after collecting cash from the market.

He said that they had a brief ston in Dhoke Dalal tobuy some food for Iftar.

Mohammad Noman went to a nearby shop when four persons came on two motorcycles and held him at gunpoint.

They seized his mobile phone and two bags containing Rs8.4 million from the car`s trunk. The robbers escaped towards Khayaban-i-Sir Syed.

Sonia Aziz, an expatriate, complained to Gujar Khan police that she was going to her father`s house after landing at Islamabad International Airport from London at 6am.

She said as she reached her parents` house three young robbers came and snatched gold jewellery worth Rs1 million, British pounds 2,400, her husband`s passport. Besides these two big robberies, 22 motorcycles and three cars were reportedly stolen. Staff Reporter
