NEW DELHI: Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar summoned Pakistan`s High Commissioner Abdul Basit on Wednesday to demand action against personnel responsible for alleged killing and mutilation of two Indian troops.
The Indian army had alleged that the soldiers were killed on Monday in an ambush by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.
According to India`s external affairs spokesman Gopal Baglay, Mr Jaishankar conveyed to the high commissioner `outrage at the killing and the barbaric act of mutilation`.
The Pakistani Army has already denied committing any ceasefire violation.
It said in a statement thatthe Indian allegations of mutilating the soldiers` bodies were also false.
-AP Our Correspondent adds: As Mr Jaishankar conveyed a demarche on the alleged beheading, Mr Basit denied the incident.
The Press Trust of India quoted the Indian external affairs spokesman as claiming that India had `sufficient evidence` to show that the mutilation of the bodies of its two soldiers was carried out by Pakistan Army regulars.
He said Pakistan had been asked to take action against its commanders for the incident.
India considered the incident `a strong act of provocation`, he said.
The spokesman saidblood samples collected from the site in Krishna Ghati sector along the LoC had matched with the two soldiers killed. The `blood trail` showed that the perpetrators had entered the Indian side from (Azad Kashmir) and returned to where they came from, he alleged.
Indian officials claim that Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh and Border Security Force Head Constable Prem Singh were slain in Poonch on the day Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi after calling on both countries to resolve the Kashmir dispute through bilateral or multilateral dialogue.
