Health CEO removed as another polio case emerges in Lahore

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday removed Health CEO Agha Tauheed Ahmed Khan from his position af ter emergence of another polio case in the provincial capital.
The action was taken when a 13-month-old baby girl was paralysed after she contracted the virusinUnion Council 70 at Malik Park.
A notification regarding the transfer of Mr Khan was issued and he was directed to report to the primary and secondary healthcare department for further orders.
Lahore reported its second polio case in the last two days, painting a gloomy picture in the backdrop of recent efforts to eradicate the crippling disease from Pakistan, an official told Dawn. He said the virus in the latest case belonged to the Outfall Pumping Station.
Talking about the clinical history of the fresh case, he said the baby was taken to hospital with a five-day high fever that subsided after medication along with an episode of vomiting followed by acute weakness of all four limbs.
The doctors referred her to the Children`s Hospital from where the case was notified as acute flaccid paralysis case.
