Citizens to be involved in tree plantation drive at IIA

RAWALPINDI: The Aviation Division has decided to involve residents of the twin cities in the `Own a Tree at Islamabad International Airpon for Times to Come` initiative and invited them to plant a tree free of cost.

Each tree would carry the name of the individual and would symbolise his or her contribution towards the national cause.

In pursuance of Prime Minister Imran Khan`s initiative `Clean and Green Pakistan` the Aviation Division has embarked on the campaign to plant trees at Islamabad International Airpon (11A).

Secretary Aviation Division Shahrukh Nusrat highlighted the significance of the campaign and termed it a positive contribution to the national Clean Green Pakistan initiative with all of its components vis-a -vis tree plantation, solid waste management, liquid waste management, clean drinking water and sanitation.

Mr Nusrat said a similar campaign was undenaken at Karachi`s Jinnah International Airpon in February this year, adding that such campaigns were being replicated at all airports under the Aviation Division.

He invited interested individuals to visit the airport and become part of the campaign.

Meanwhile, delegations representing the aeronautical authorities of Pakistan and Qatar met in Islamabad.

A press release issued by the Civil Aviation Authority said the Pakistani delegation wasled by Senior Joint Secretary Aviation Division Abdul Sattar Khokhar and the Qatari delegation was led by Director, Air Transport Depanment of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Mohamed Faleh Al Hajri.

During the round of negotiations, air service matters between the two countries were discussed at length and new avenues for mutual benefit in the field of international civil aviation were explored.

The CAA spokesman said Pakistan and Qatar agreed to continue consultations to work closely on promoting the aviation industries of both countries.
