Maryam launches `Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar` programme

LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz says that 300 more houses are being built every day in Punjab for the homeless people and people can apply for free plots on the e-portalazag.punjab.gov.pkwhile 2,000 plots will be given in 23 housing schemes in 19 districts acrosstheprovince.

She stated this while formally inaugurating the e-portal of `Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar` Programme here on Saturday.

The chief minister said: `Under`Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar` Programme, homeless people will be given free three-marla plots.

Those who get plots in the draw under will also get loans to construct their houses`.

She said that in the phase 1 of the programme, free plots would be given in Jhelum, Pattoki, Mamun Kanjan, Lodhran and Renala Khurd.

`Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar programme is very close to my heart.

Providing shelter to homeless people is the vision of Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who gets very much pleased when listening about completion of houses for the homeless people` Ms Maryam said that in a shortperiod of six months, approximately 34,000 houses were being built, 2,000 have already been completed.

She said that the housing programme was the easiest and a three-month grace period had also been set for the construction of houses.

She added that under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar programme, plot owners from one to 10 marlas could apply for a loan to build their houses.

Provincial Minister Housing Bilal Yasin gave the details of the project, saying that a Rs36bn loan was being provided to build houses for 33,500 people under `Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar` Programme.
