SWAT: A policeman, who embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Gulbandi area of Buner district on Friday night, was laid to rest on Saturday with full official honour.

The funeral prayers of Anwar Mahmood were held at the Dagar Police Lines, attended by a large number of people, including Regional Police Officer, Malakand, Sher Akbar, Buner district police officer Saud Khan, the deputy commissioner, members of the legal fraternity, journalists, workers of welfare organisations and policemen.

A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour to the fallen cop, while prayers were offered for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter. RPO Sher Akbar and DPO Saud Khan laid floral wreaths on the martyr`s coffin and expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.

Following the funeral, the body of the martyred officer was transported with full official protocol to his native village, Kliyari, for burial. Correspondent
