ABOUT 5,000 candidates appeared in the written part of a departmental test for the post of a senior assistant in the Election Commission of Sindh on Feb 8. However, only 50 meritorious candidates received call letters for an interview.
The interviewers asked some questions pertaining to general knowledge and practical life. When my turn came, I confidently answered all the questions in English.
They were quite satisfied with myacademic knowledge and other required skills. Unfortunately, nepotism triggered its poison in this independent organ.
Consequently, the authorities concerned did not appoint anyone of the 50 selected candidates for this advertised job.
In a nutshell, Sindh`s administrative system has weakened as a result of political interference.
